Producers' strategies
Myspace can be a big part of an artists career, as it can promote their music when they are starting off, Lily Allen is a good example of this because she started off just uploading music on to MySpace but has now got 2 great albums and her own music label, so MySpace can be a great starting point for people wanting to break into the music industry.
Extension of income/power
Star power is a way that the artist wants to sell/represent their self.
- This could be through making himself look in power and show his wealth (Economic Power), this is what 50 Cent does in most of his videos. a good example of this is in his newest video with Mann, it shows his wealth with his car, jewllery and nice clothes HERE
- Another way to sell/represent theirselves is to have their own image or style (Artistic Power), This is what Lady Gaga does in all of her videos. She wears extreme fashion and weird looking clothes and also weird styles in her videos. An example of this can be seen in her music video and makes her videos a real performance HERE
Promotion
There are many ways a production company can promote a new single/album but in recent years the internet has stormed in advertising as it is used everyday by millions of people and is the easiest way to reach the public. Music videos are the new way for artist to express theirselves as it is their own and could progress their career further but could also cause it to stop. Music videos are watched my millions on the internet and also music channels on TV.

Extension of outlets
Top of the pops was the most watched show in the 70's which presented bands/artists to the general public watching TV, it was a big hit the the public as they could see their favourite bands/artists for free, but sadly in the last decade it took a servere downturn as MTV, Smash Hits and KISS have taken the market by storm, and also music videos are available to watch online for free and quite often downloaded illegally. People also dont buy the CD's anymore as they can just click 'BUY NOW' on the internet for a small fee around the £0.79 mark.

Questions
1. What similarities do you observe?
Both of the videos share some similarities:
Bright colours.
Same style of clothing.
Three women dancing at the beginning of both.
Tracking following cee lo green.
2. How is your chosen genre different to others?
The genre of my two chosen music videos is r&b/sould which can use different elements such as a gospel choir, bass and piano's and usually consist of catchy rhythms and some clapping and some great vocals where as in hip hop music they would use beat boxing, turntables, synthesizer and use fast rapping.

3. Can you define in your own words the audience type for this genre?
I think
the target audience for this genre is 16-25 year olds, both genders because it can also fall into the "pop" genre which is also listened by this audience.Tuesday, 11 January 2011
